<?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Lincoln ? Nebraska remained No. 1 in this week’s CSTV/AVCA released Monday evening. The Huskers, who are 7-0 on the season, received 47 of the 58 first-place votes and totaled 1,486 points, topping PennState’s (8-0) total of 1,423 points. UCLA (9-0) was the only other school to receive a first-place vote in this week’s poll. <?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
The Huskers have been ranked first in all three polls this season and 17 of the last 18 polls dating back to last season. NU has now been ranked No. 1 for an NCAA record 58 weeks in program history.
NU is one of four Big 12 teams in the national rankings, joining Texas (fifth), Missouri (17th) and KansasState (24th). In addition to those teams, Texas A&M and Kansas both received votes in this week’s poll.
It is the first time since 1996 that two Big 12 teams were ranked in the top-five.
The Huskers open Big 12 play on Wednesday evening when they take on Kansas at 7 p.m. The match will be televised state-wide on Nebraska Educational Television and shown nationally on CSTV.
