Offensive Coordinator Jay Norvell<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>
On the <?xml:namespace prefix="st1" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:smarttags"?>Louisiana Tech defense:
“They are inexperienced and have a lot of new kids in there, but they are very athletic. They did a tremendous job last year with that defense and they’ll run a lot of the same scheme. We’re not exactly sure what we’re going to get from them being the first game of the season, but they’ll give us a real challenge. They had a really talented team last year.”
On the comparison of this year’s offense to last year’s unit:
“We are more experienced with a lot of the same guys back. We have more depth at the offensive line position and the receivers and running backs. We’ll expect to see improvement and more continuity when we start (the season). We expect to start faster, that’s one of our goals.”
On the depth at running back:
“We have four good running backs. We feel like they all can play. They all have strengths. They are all very talented, and as the season goes along we’ll see who rises to the top. They all do certain things differently and we’ll probably see over the next couple of weeks who rises out of that group.”
