Fullerton, Calif. ? Cal State Fullerton announced Thursday that former Nebraska men’s gymnast Mace Patterson will join the Titans’ women’s gymnastics program as an assistant coach this season. Patterson will earn his bachelor’s degree from the University of Nebraska this weekend before taking the position.
Patterson was a four-year letterwinner for the Huskers from 2002 to 2005, and made his way into four NCAA qualifiers during his collegiate career. One of Nebraska’s top all-arounders during his tenure, Patterson was a three-time Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Gymnast of the Week and posted four team-high scores and seven event titles for Nebraska during his senior season.
After completing his eligibility, Patterson spent one season as a volunteer assistant coach for the Huskers while continuing to perform over the last two summers as a tumbler at Sea World in San Diego, Calif.
