Huskers Complete Day Two of Training Camp

Lincoln? Practicing in ideal weather conditions with temperatures in the mid-80s, the Nebraska football team completed day two of fall training camp in half-pads on the Ed and Joyanne Gass practice fields northeast of Memorial Stadium on Friday afternoon.

Nebraska offensive coordinator Jay Norvell addressed the media after the two-and-a-half hour practice and was pleased with all phases through two days of camp.

“We took a little rust off yesterday and guys have surprisingly retained a lot from the spring,” Norvell said. “We went right back after it today and had really good tempo. Coach Callahan is keeping things quick and fresh.”

An important aspect of practice that continues to be emphasized is the center-quarterback exchange that Coach Callahan noted at Thursday’s press conference. Aside from the starting center, the guards must also learn to play each side of the ball around the center.

“Right now the centers are over there doing the center-quarterback exchange, getting the snap off,” sophomore offensive lineman Matt Slauson said. “We just have to keep each other focused and make sure the ball is getting where it’s supposed to be.”

The Huskers will continue practice through the weekend and will hit the field on each afternoon at 2:15 p.m.
