Huskers Claim Academic Accolades

Lincoln -- Six members of the Nebraska men's tennis team were honored by the league office as they were named to the Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll for the 2006 Spring semester.

Leading the way for the Huskers was senior Gerhard Posch. who was selected to the honor roll for the fourth time in his career. Posch was also one of two Huskers, along with junior James Clow, to earn academic All-Big 12 first-team honors this spring.

Also joining Posch for a return trip to the squad squad was former Husker Joel Recekwey (fourth honor), along with juniors Sean Coetzee (third) and Adrian Szatmary (second). Freshmen newcomers Renato Melo and Hendrik Stahmer also were selected to the squad for the first time after joining the Huskers for the spring semester.

The Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who earned a 3.0 GPA or higher during the previous semester. Overall, Nebraska had 249 student-athletes named to the spring honor roll, including 38 who produced perfect 4.0 grade-point averages during the spring semester.
