Lincoln - Lindsay Baker was named the National Tenpin Coach Association Player of the Year to headline a list of three Husker All-Americans, when the NTCA announced its yearly honors for women’s collegiate bowling on Friday.
Baker, a sophomore from Amherst, N.Y., joined junior Amanda Burgoyne in earning first-team All-America honors for the Huskers, while senior Jamie Martin captured second-team accolades.
Baker edged out Fairleigh Dickinson’s Lisa Friscioni for player-of-the-year honors.
Baker’s 215 season average was the country’s best this season. She claimed two first-place finishes for the Huskers in the 2005-06 season and rolled a season-total pinfall of 12,781.
Burgoyne also received first-team All-America honors, as she finished with a season average of 208.2. Burgoyne claimed the Arkansas State Invitational individual title to bring her career total of individual titles to five.
Martin finished her final season with a 205.7 average and two top-five tournament finishes to earn her second-team All-America honors. Martin recently graduated from the University of Nebraska with a bachelor’s degree in family and consumer science.
The Huskers closed their 2005-06 regular season with a perfect 8-0 record and finished third at the NCAA Championship.
