Husker Auto Group Joins NU Corporate Sponsors

Lincoln

- The University of Nebraska Athletic Department and Husker Auto Group, Inc., have agreed to a new five-year corporate sponsorship contract through 2010. The contract provides the University of Nebraska with corporate sponsorship funding in exchange for recognition by Husker Auto Group as the official auto dealership for Husker athletics. A Lincoln, Neb., auto dealership, Husker Auto Group has been a supporter of Nebraska Athletics since purchasing the dealership in 2000.

"We are excited to have Husker Auto Group come on board as the official auto dealership of Nebraska football and athletics as a whole," said Associate Athletic Director Paul Miles. "This sponsorship contribution will allow us to continue to provide excellent facilities and resources for our athletic teams and it is an honor for us to work with Marty deBoer, who brings great integrity and excellence to Husker Auto Group."

Nebraska’s sponsorship dollars have nearly doubled since 2003. In fiscal year 2006, corporate sponsorships are projected to be $6 million, accounting for approximately nine percent of the University of Nebraska’s Athletic Department revenue.

The Husker Auto Group agreement supports the entire Husker athletic department and each of its 23 varsity sports. The majority of the sponsorship donations will be used for operational expenses of the athletic department. A portion will also help fund scholarships for Nebraska’s student-athletes, support women’s athletics, and benefit the Huskers’ widely successful Olympic sports.

Husker Auto Group, Inc. has been operated by Marty deBoer for more than three years and is owned by VT Inc., a Kansas City dealer group owned by Cecil and Larry Van Tuyl. The Husker Auto Group dealership, located on North 27th Street and I-80, sells and services Chevrolets, Pontiacs, GMC, Cadillacs, Mercedes Benz and BMW cars and trucks.

"We are so proud to be the official auto dealership of Nebraska football and athletics," said deBoer, Husker Auto Group’s general manger and vice president. "We’ve all worked hard to raise our level of customer satisfaction to be something that the state of Nebraska would be proud to talk about. We believe our partnership with the university and Husker football is healthy for our growing business and we are proud to support them as they continue their prominent status in college athletics."
