Senior Misty Chanek and junior Kristina Fehlings paved the way for the Huskers with both earning recognition on the smallbore and air rifle All-America teams.  This is Fehlings’ second consecutive season as an All-American in both disciplines, which follows a brilliant performance by the Fairfax, Va., native for the individual air rifle title at the 2006 NCAA Championships.

Although Chanek has previously been named an All-American on smallbore and air rifle, this is the first year she has received the honor simultaneously.  Chanek ended the season with nine meet-high scores and a team-high average of 586.1 in smallbore.

In addition to Chanek and Fehlings’ honors, sophomore Andrea Franz?n repeated as an All-American in air rifle for the second consecutive season, while sophomore Kirsten Weiss earned the honor for the first time in her collegiate career as an All-American in smallbore.

Following the close of the NCAA collegiate season, Weiss and sophomore Kim Chrostowski went on to compete at the 2006 Junior Olympics where Weiss finished second in smallbore and Chrostowski came in third in air rifle.

Weiss, Chrostowski and Fehlings were also recently named to the 2006 U.S. National Development Team.
