Huskers Hold Fourth Spring Workout

LINCOLN ? The Nebraska football team held the fourth of its 15 spring workouts Monday afternoon inside the HawksChampionshipCenter. The Huskers underwent live scrimmage work for the second straight practice session Monday.

Offensive Coordinator Jay Norvell spoke with the media following practice. Among several topics Norvell addressed included the progress that he has seen the NU offense make in less than a week of spring drills.

“I think we’re doing a lot of good things,” Norvell said. “We have a lot of offense in and every drill we want to win, but we aren’t playing a game today. We’re in the fourth day of spring practice and we’re trying to get better. I’m really happy with the way we’re starting to run the football. Our (I-backs) are running hard, we’re starting to understand concepts and we’re getting better.”

Included among the factors for the progress of the Nebraska running game has been development in the offensive line area.

“We’ve made some improvements there, and our guys understand some things better,” Norvell said. “We’re starting to get some continuity there. I like the way all of those guys are working out. The young kids are doing some good things?Andy Christensen, Brock Pasteur and Rodney Picou. Those are all young guys who haven’t played, but they have done some positive things in the last few days. We are starting to develop some depth and toughness in that group, and that’s exciting.”

The Huskers return to the practice field Wednesday afternoon with their fifth spring workout at 3:30 p.m.
