Bowling Goes Undefeated in Regular Season

The No. 1 Nebraska bowling team concluded its regular season on a high note with a win at the NCAA Brunswick Invitational in Chicago, Ill.  After competing in two days of qualification rounds, the Huskers advanced to a double-elimination championship tournament this afternoon at Brunswick Zone Fountain Square lanes.  Top-seeded NU remained in the winner’s bracket all day to finally face New Jersey in the championship game.  The Huskers defeated New Jersey, 3-2 for their eighth tournament win of the season and 13th straight dating back to last season, setting school records in both categories.

“The regular season is now completed and we finished unbeaten,” Nebraska Coach Bill Straub said.  “Everyone definitely feels great about the season.”

Senior Karla Engh led the Huskers with a second-place finish, averaging a career high 227 over the three-day tournament.  Sophomore Lindsay Baker also contributed to the victory with a sixth-place finish and a 214 average.  Junior Adrienne Miller placed eighth with a 207 average, as three Huskers ranked among the top-10 bowlers.

The Huskers are now off until the NCAA Championships, April 12-15, in Houston, Texas. Nebraska will seek its third straight NCAA Championship and 8th national title under Head Coach Bill Straub.
