Senior outfielder Trisha Tannahill was named the Big 12 softball Player of the Week on Tuesday after hitting .625 and helping the 16th-ranked Huskers to a perfect 4-0 record in four home games last week.
Tannahill went 5-for-8 with four runs scored and seven RBIs on the week. Three of Tannahill’s five hits went for extra bases, as she recorded two doubles and a triple en route to posting a 1.125 slugging percentage.
Her seven RBIs in four games were a team high and she also boasted a pair of three-RBI games after recording just one multi-RBI game in the first 20 games of the season. Tannahill recorded two multi-hit games in her four starts. She drew three walks in her only three plate appearances of the game against Northern Colorado to help her post an on-base percentage of .750 for the week.
The honor was the first of Tannahill’s career and the second weekly award for a Husker this season. Fellow senior Lizzy Aumua was named co-player of the week on Feb. 14.
Tannahill and the Huskers travel to Austin, Texas, this weekend to open Big 12 Conference play against the fourth-ranked Texas Longhorns.
