Huskers Travel to Brunswick Coca-Cola Invitational

The Huskers are on the road again this weekend for the Brunswick Coca-Cola Invitational in Las Vegas, Nev. The tournament will begin Saturday morning and conclude Sunday afternoon at the Gold Coast Bowling Center. Six other teams will be battling Nebraska for the tournament title including last week’s third place finisher, Vanderbilt.

"Las Vegas is the favorite destination for competition for the Nebraska bowling program," Coach Bill Straub said. "Collegiately, Vegas has hosted many of the best tournaments."

Last year, Nebraska beat seven other teams to place first at the Brunswick Coca-Cola Invitational. The Husker bowlers are hoping to capture their third straight title for the 2005-06 season.

"This weekend the event will again include some of the best teams in the country," Coach Straub said. "We look for the event to be very competitive, and hopefully a most enjoyable trip."

Baker Claims Second Tournament Title
Sophomore Lindsay Baker claimed her second career tournament title at the Greater Ozark Invitational with a 227 average through seven games. Baker was also chosen the Most Valuable Player on the all-tournament team for her outstanding weekend. Baker’s first title came at the Mankato Invitational last season, where she averaged 204.74.  Junior Amanda Burgoyne also made the all-tournament team, placing fourth with a 214 average. Senior Jamie Martin placed sixth for the Huskers with a 207 average.
