Huskers Wrap Up Early Signing Period

Lincoln - Coach Robin Krapfl added two recruits to the women's golf team to wrap up the 2005 early signing period. J.C. Stevenson of Grand Island, Neb., and Sydney Sturdevant of Sioux Falls, S.D., rounded out the class of four who will join the team in the 2006-07 season.

Stevenson finished in the top four at the Nebraska State High School Tournament for Grand Island High School in each of the last three years, including a runner-up finish this season.  She was also the 2005 Nebraska Girls Amateur Golfer of the Year.

"We are excited to have J.C. join our team next season," Krapfl said. "We feel like she is the best junior golfer in the state and has the potential to become a very good Division I player.  She is a good student, works hard and brings a lot of enthusiasm for the game.  She has a very solid short game, especially for her wedge play and possesses good length off the tee."

Sturdevant is a two-time South Dakota State High School AA Champion from Lincoln High School and is the 2005 South Dakota Junior Player of the Year.

"In Sydney we are getting a very solid player," Krapfl said. "She has a strong short game and decent length, but most of all she is a competitor.  South Dakota has produced some outstanding college golfers, and we feel Sydney will continue that tradition."
