Nebraska continued preliminary work for its Dec. 28 Alamo Bowl matchup with Michigan on Saturday afternoon, conducting a two-hour practice. The Huskers went through the drills in half pads inside the ChampionshipIndoorCenter.
Head Coach Bill Callahan was pleased with the level of effort and intensity by the Huskers on Saturday. He said the Huskers are currently emphasizing fundamentals and technique during the early stages of the bowl preparation with the game still nearly three weeks away. Callahan said the team will start preliminary work on Michigan during next week’s practices.
With the Heisman Trophy being presented tonight, Callahan was also asked who he would choose for the award and said he would vote for Reggie Bush, calling the USC tailback “one of the finest players to come around in a long, long time.”
Nebraska completes its first week of bowl preparations with a Sunday afternoon practice. The team will gather this evening in Lincoln for its annual team banquet, where several awards will be presented.
