Lincoln, Neb. - Nebraska women's golf coach Robin Krapfl announced Saturday the signing of Kate White from Waukegan, Ill., and Charlotte Wendner from Bjarred, Sweden, to a National Letter-of-Intent to play for the Huskers in 2006-07.
White was ranked 56th in the Golfweek/Titleist Jr. Rankings for the 2006 class. She also finished in the top three the past two years in the Illinois State High School Championships for Carmel High School. In addition, White was a PGA Junior Illinois Section Champion and placed in the top 20 at the national tournament.
"Kate possesses good length and a solid overall game, plus she has good course management skills," Krapfl said. "She has the potential to come in and be a four-year starter."
Wendner was a top junior player in Sweden with great length and good touch, according to Krapfl. She has already recorded a low tournament score of 68, and her handicap has been as low as +3.
"Charlotte adds a tremendous amount of experience and maturity," Krapfl said. "She will be almost 20 when she starts school so I expect her to jump right in and contribute immediately."
