NU Roars Past Tigers, Remains Undefeated

Memphis, Tenn. ? The Nebraska rifle team remained undefeated on the season with a 4,673-4,608 win over the Memphis Tigers in Tennessee on Sunday, Nov. 6.  The victory was Nebraska’s second of the weekend after the Huskers ousted Ole Miss on Saturday.  NU now stands at 4-0 on the season and 2-0 in the Great America Rifle Conference.

“We were still a couple of points off what we are capable of, but we’re getting there and now we understand that we need to work on endurance to get those better scores,” Head Coach Launi Meili said.  “All in all though, I’m happy with our performance.”

Sophomore Andrea Franz?n made her debut appearance on the smallbore team, shooting a 580 for a fifth-place finish overall.  Franz?n also scored well in air rifle where she finished third with a 588.

Senior Misty Chanek had an impressive meet, scoring a 585 in both smallbore and air rifle.  Chanek garnered Nebraska’s highest finish in the latter, tying for the top spot overall with the Tigers’ Krissey Bahnsen.

“Our leaders are performing very well,” Meili said.  “I know I can count on them to come through.  I’m happy with the effort the entire team put forth.”

The Huskers return to action on Nov. 19 for a home dual against Kentucky and will remain in Lincoln for another home match against the University of Missouri-Kansas City on Dec. 3.
