ATLANTA, Ga. - Three Nebraska men's tennis players advanced to the second round of the Georgia Tech Fall Invitational on Friday.
Junior Adrian Szatmary defeated Alabama's Andrew Felsenthal, 6-4, 6-4, in the singles flight A bracket. Szatmary moves on to play Auburn's Nick Lane.
In singles flight B, sophomore Sean Coetzee rolled past Nathan Tingen of Georgia Southern, 6-3, 6-2, and is set to play Evan Dufaux of Vanderbilt Saturday. Also in singles flight B, sophomore Vincent Pietro picked up a win against Brent Goedjen from Auburn, 6-1, 7-5, to move on. Pietro will play Jordan Magarik of Vanderbilt on Saturday.
Junior James Clow moved into the singles flight A consolation bracket after losing to Ricardo Gonzalez of Georgia, 6-3, 6-3, 1-0. Clow will face Shunsuke Shimizu from Tennessee Tech. Sophomore Karl Jones was defeated in singles flight B by Jacek Twarowski of Georgia State.
Clow and Szatmary will face the duo of Rishan Kuruppu and Greg Pollack from Middle Tennesse State in doubles flight A Saturday, while Pietro and freshman Ayhan Oray will play Diego Flores and Neil Shine from Georgia Southern in doubles flight B.
