Nebraska women's golfer Chrissie McArdle claimed the Minnesota Stroke Play Championship, Wednesday, by three strokes at Wayzata Country Club in Wayzata, Minn.
McArdle finished the 54-hole event with a five-over par, 221 after shooting two-over par 72 in the final round of competition. She defeated players from at least five different Division I schools, including Minnesota, Oklahoma, Michigan and IowaState. McArdle outclassed the rest of the talented field, defeating runner-up Leigh Klasse by three strokes. Lisa Meshke finished four strokes off McArdle’s pace at 225.
McArdle owns the best returning stroke average for the 2005-06 Nebraska women’s golf team at 77.56 and has four career top 10 finishes along with eight career top 20 finishes.
The Huskers begin competition for the 2005-06 season at the Ptarmigan Invitational in Fort Collins, Colo., Sept. 12-13 at 8:30 a.m. They will host their annual Chip-N Club Tournament at Wilderness Ridge Golf Course on Sept. 26 and 27, beginning at 8 a.m. NU will return to Lincoln to host the Big 12 Championships held at the Country Club of Lincoln, April 17-19.
