Nebraska’s 16 CoSIDA awards ranked second nationally, as the NU Sports Information has finished first or second nationally in the overall publications contest for five straight years.

Nebraska’s volleyball and soccer guides swept their competition, claiming “Best in the Nation” honors, along with titles with “Best Cover” and “Best in the District.”  The volleyball guide was produced by Assistant Sports Information Director Shamus McKnight and the soccer guide was created by Graduate Intern Matt Smith.  The men’s basketball program cover designed by Assistant Sports Information Director Jerry Trickie also received “Best Cover” accolades.

The women’s basketball program cover coordinated by Sports Information Director of Operations Jeff Griesch finished second. The women’s gym guide created by student assistant Bonnie Ryan and Griesch also finished second in the nation.  The baseball media guide, created by McKnight, continued to rank among the nation’s best, earning third place.

Four sports earned fourth-place honors for outstanding media guides.  The men’s and women’s cross country guide, designed by Graduate Assistant Andy Anderson, and the men’s gymnastics guide, created by student assistant Kelli Kremlacek, were awarded fourth place.  The football media guide, coordinated by Sports Information Director Keith Mann also came in fourth.  Finally, the swimming and diving media guide, created by student assistant Brandon Gries and Griesch, placed fourth.

The women’s golf media guide produced by Griesch earned first place in its district along with the football media guide and the track and field media guide created by Anderson.

Megan McLaughlin, the Nebraska Athletic Department's design coordinator, earned seventh place in the nation with her Nebraska baseball poster, which also ranked second overall in the district.

“The number of award-winning guides that we’ve been able to produce over the years just shows the athletic department’s commitment to all of its athletic programs,” said Griesch, the sports information office publications coordinator.  “We have talented students, interns and full-time employees who come together and work as a team to produce all of our guides.”
