Five Husker Bowlers Receive All-American Honors

The National Tenpin Coaches Association released All-American honors on Friday with five Nebraska bowlers earning first and second team accolades for the 2004-05 season. 

 

Senior Shannon Pluhowsky, sophomore Amanda Burgoyne and freshman Lindsay Baker were named first team All-Americans, while junior Jamie Martin and sophomore Adrienne Miller received second team honors.

 

Pluhowksy, a four-time All-American, was also named player of the year.  She currently holds the Nebraska record for most individual tournament titles with 12 after capturing two tournament titles in her final season as a Husker.

 

Burgoyne earned three tournament titles during the 2004-05 season, including a first place finish at the 2005 NCAA championships.  She was named tournament MVP with a career high average of 251.75.

 

Baker, who was also named rookie of the year, turned in an impressive freshman season at Nebraska. Competing in every tournament for the Huskers, her best finish came at the Mankato Invitational were she averaged a 204.75 for her first tournament title as a Husker.

 

Martin earned her first tournament title during the 2004-05 season, while Miller earned her first two career tournament titles.

 

Bill Straub received the prestigious Coach of the Year award in his eighth year as the head coach.  Straub has led NU to seven national championships, including back-to-back championships in 2004 and 2005. 

 

The Huskers finished the 2004-05 season with a 69-8 overall record that included seven tournament titles and the 2005 NCAA championship.
