Lincoln - A strong contingent of 12 Nebraska volleyball players produced 3.0 or better grade-point averages during the 2005 spring semester to earn recognition from the conference for their academic accomplishments by being named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Spring Honor Roll.
All-American Sarah Pavan headlines the list of volleyball academic honorees after posting a perfect 4.0 GPA during the spring semester. Pavan, a 6-5 outside hitter from Kitchener, Ontario, Canada, was joined by sophomore Christina Houghtelling from Cambridge, Neb., who also produced a 4.0 GPA for the semester. A third Husker, Kelsey Fautsch, added a perfect semster in the classroom as well with a 4.0 GPA.
The trio of Huskers with perfect performances in the classroom was joined by All-American middle blocker Melissa Elmer, Dani Busboom, Michelle Lynch, Dani Mancuso, Amanda McCormick, Anna Schrad, Emily Schroeder, Meghan Smith and Tracy Stalls, who all produced GPAs of better than 3.0.
The Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who earned a 3.0 GPA or higher during the previous semester. Overall, Nebraska had a Big 12-leading 274 student-athletes named to the spring honor roll, including 37 who produced perfect 4.0 grade-point averages during the spring semester.
During the 2004-05 academic year, a league-leading 531 NU student-athletes were recognized on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll, including 65 student-athletes with perfect 4.0 GPAs during the fall or spring semester. Nebraska also led the Big 12 with 139 academic all-conference selections during the 2004-05 campaign, including a Big 12-leading 113 first-team academic all-conference honorees.
