Boek Leads Twelve Named to All-Regional Squad

Lincoln, Neb.--- Washington pitcher Ashley Boek was named the Most Valuable Player of the NCAA Regional at Lincoln Sunday to lead 12 players selected to the all-regional team.

 

Boek finished the tournament with a 3-0 record while pitching 24.1 innings. She allowed just 10 hits and four runs (two earned) for a 0.57 ERA, while striking out 32 and walking just six. She threw 11 shutout innings with career-high 18 strikeouts against Creighton Friday and tossed a one-hitter in the regional title game against Iowa.

 

Washington led the way with four selections to the all-regional squad, including Boek, Dominique Lastrapes, Sarah Hyatt and Aimee Minor. Runner-up Iowa and Nebraska each had three selections to the team, with the Hawkeyes being represented by Lisa Birocci, Stacy May and Ali Arnold. The Huskers’ representatives included Ashley DeBuhr, Lizzy Rock and Trisha Tannahill.

 

Creighton’s catcher Christine Fukumoto and pitcher Tammy Nielsen rounded out the 12-person team.

 

The team was chosen by selected members of the working media, team personal and tournament administration. The team consists of 12 players, irregardless of position. There was not a requirement to have a minimum number of players from each team.
