No. 31 Nebraska Blanks Iowa State

Ames, Iowa?The No. 31 Nebraska women’s tennis team blanked Iowa State, 7-0, Saturday, April, 16 in Ames, Iowa. NU improves to 16-2 on the year and 7-2 in conference.

In singles action, Nebraska turned in a dominating performance, sweeping the Cyclones in straight sets at all slots. At the No. 1 spot, senior Gitte Ostermann, ranked No. 32 nationally, rolled over Jill Palen, 6-1, 6-2, while freshman Ellinor Zugner dominated Beth Takemoto, 6-1, 6-2, at the No. 6 slot.

In doubles, the Big Red outscored ISU a combined 24-5. At the No. 2 slot, junior Ewelina Skaza and freshman Imke Reimers defeated Danielle Uscinski and Chrissy Derouin, 8-1, while Ostermann and senior Katie Garcia turned in a victory over Palen and Elizabeth Chermel, 8-1.

ISU falls to 1-12 overall and 0-11 in conference.

Nebraska travels to Kansas State to take on the Wildcats on April 20 at 2 p.m.
