Huskers Complete Final Full-Pad Practice Before Spring Game

The Nebraska football team concluded its final full-pad workout prior to Saturday's Red-White Spring Game with a 2 hour and 15-minute workout inside Memorial Stadium on Wednesday afternoon.  The Huskers went through final preparations that included intensified work in pressure drills and red zone work to cap off the 13th practice of the spring season.

Coach Bill Callahan said the work so far this spring has been "outstanding," and he is especially satisfied with where the team sits from a physical aspect.

"We are completely different than what we were a year ago physically," said Callahan.  "I am really pleased with the way our guys have come out and competed on a day-to-day basis.  Our coaching staff has done a tremendous job of making this a physical football team."

Nebraska's quarterbacks will wear the green jerseys on Saturday, as Zac Taylor with work with the No. 1 offense.  Beau Davis, Joe Ganz and Joe Dailey will also see extensive work at the position.

"We saw a lot of great things from our quarterbacks in terms of competitiveness in the pocket, toughness and durability," said Callahan.  "That is an aspect where we are clearly satisfied with.  This has roughed them up and toughened them up a little bit and I am pleased with the way they have responded."

Another area that has seen battle for position this spring is special teams, where Nebraska has auditioned numerous players for the punt return position.  Although punt returns will not be live on Saturday, kickoffs and kickoff returns will feature live action.

To avoid class conflicts, Nebraska will conduct its final workout before the Spring Game in sweats and helmets Thursday morning at 5:45 a.m.  Tickets for the Spring Game can be purchased online at Huskers.com and by calling or visiting the Nebraska Athletic Ticket Office.
