Lincoln ? The University of Nebraska bowling team maintained the No.1 position on the National Tenpin Coaches Association’s final regular-season poll released Tuesday. Nebraska earned the top spot with six tournament titles in eight events and a season record of 65-8.
“We were very pleased by the latest poll, and have much gratification for the members of the coaches’ poll to think so highly of us,” Nebraska Head Coach Bill Straub said. “We as the coaches, as well as the student-athletes, are very happy.”
New Jersey City University jumped three spots to claim the second in the poll, while Fairleigh Dickinson, Central Missouri State and Sacred Heart round out the top five in the final poll before next month’s NCAA Championships.
The Huskers will look to defend their national championship at the 2005 NCAA National Championships April 14-16, in Orlando, Fla. The NCAA championship will be announced on Wednesday, March 30.
