Lubbock, Texas?The No. 32 Nebraska women’s tennis team defeated Texas Tech, 4-3, Saturday, March 26, in Lubbock, Texas. NU improves to 14-2 and 5-2 in conference.
Nebraska bounced back in singles play after dropping all three doubles matches to take four out of six singles points. At the No. 1 slot, senior Gitte Ostermann, ranked No. 25 nationally, defeated Texas Tech’s Cigdem Duru in straight sets, 7-5, 6-2. Freshman Imke Reimers won a three-set thriller at the No. 2 slot over Tech’s Janet Durham, 6-2, 4-6, 6-3.
Junior Pamela Castillejos improved to 1-1 at the No. 4 slot when she rolled over Texas Tech’s Erin Hunter in straight sets, 6-3, 6-3. With the score tied 3-3, senior captain Katie Garcia clinched the victory for the Huskers, defeating Lakann Wagley at the No. 6 slot, 6-3, 6-4.
Texas Tech falls to 4-7 on the year.
Nebraska returns home for its final home game of the season when it faces Oklahoma State at the Woods Tennis Center on Sunday, April 3, at 10 a.m.
