Huskers Named to Big 12 Honor Roll

The Nebraska track and field teams were honored for their success in the classroom this week when 53 student-athletes earned recognition on the Big 12 Commissioner’s Fall Honor Roll. Athletes must earn a 3.0 grade-point average to qualify for the award.<?xml:namespace prefix="o" ns="urn:schemas-microsoft-com:office:office"?>

 

Two members of the Husker men’s team, sophomores Lee Martin and Issar Yazhbin, lead the group after posting perfect 4.0 GPA’s during the fall semester. It is Martin’s fifth straight appearance on the Honor Roll, while Yazhbin was named for the third consecutive time.

 

Jesse Colburn, a fifth-year senior, earned recognition for the ninth straight semester, while senior Paul Wilson earned his eighth award. Athletes making their seventh consecutive appearance included seniors Nicole Kadyszewski, Christi Lehman, Eric Rasmussen, Anne Shadle and Danny Tylka.

 

A total of 14 (13 freshmen, one sophomore) Huskers were named to the Honor Roll in their first semester at NU.

 

Overall, Nebraska had 257 student-athletes named to the fall honor roll, including 28 who produced perfect 4.0 GPAs during the fall semester.
