Husker Football Team Well Represented on Big 12 Commissioner?s Honor Roll

The Nebraska football team has been honored for its academic success in the fall semester, as 59 members of the program were named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Fall Academic Honor Roll for earning 3.0 grade-point averages or higher during the semester.

The group of 59 honorees is headlined by nine players who had perfect 4.0 GPAs during the fall semester. Those earning perfect fall grade-point averages were senior place-kicker Sandro DeAngelis, senior quarterback Garth Glissman, senior defensive tackle Nathan Krug, senior defensive lineman Jeff McBride, freshman receiver Todd Peterson, redshirt freshman tight end J.B. Phillips, sophomore defensive back Brandon Rigoni, senior linebacker Chad Sievers and sophomore fullback Dane Todd.

DeAngelis was one of three fifth-year seniors who were named to the Honor Roll for the ninth consecutive semester, along with defensive back Kellen Huston and receiver Joel Jackson. Defensive back Dan Burrow, wide receiver Jack O’Holleran and fullback Steve Kriewald were each named to the commissioner’s honor roll for the eighth time in their collegiate careers.

Nebraska’s newcomers also excelled in the classroom during the fall semester. Eighteen student-athletes were named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll in their first semesters of college.

The Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who earned a 3.0 grade-point average or higher during the previous semester. Overall, Nebraska had 257 student-athletes named to the fall honor roll, including 28 who produced perfect 4.0 GPAs during the fall semester.
