Huskers Recognized for Academic Achievement

Five Nebraska gymnasts were honored this week as members of the Big 12 Fall Commissioner’s Honor Roll.  Seniors Tony Burtle, Steven Friedman, and Josh Koopman, along with freshmen Andrew Podany and Stephen T?trault were just a few of the 257 Nebraska student-athletes named to the list which recognizes a grade point average of 3.0 or higher during the previous semester.

Friedman, a finance major and Nebraska All-American, enjoys his second consecutive recognition while Burtle earned his first since 2003 after declaring a major in child development.  Koopman received the first Big 12 Honor Roll award of his career.  He is a business management major with a minor in religious studies.

Podany and T?trault are the only two Husker freshman and their nomination to the Honor Roll following just their first collegiate semester indicates bright things for Nebraska’s future.  Podany is majoring in business administration and T?trault is attending NU on academic scholarship as a mathematics major.

All five gymnasts will compete this Sunday, Feb. 13 at 4p.m. against the Sooners in Oklahoma City, Okla. and will return to Lincoln on Sunday, Feb. 20 for their first home dual of the season as they once again face the Sooners at 2 p.m. at the DevaneySportsCenter.
