Ruud Tabbed as Unanimous All-Big 12 Selection

Nebraska senior linebacker Barrett Ruud has been named as a unanimous selection to the Associated Press All-Big 12 football team. Ruud was one of eight Huskers who were honored by the AP, including seven Huskers selected as honorable-mention all-conference performers.

 

Ruud led the Huskers in tackles in 2004 with 143 stops, the second-most in school history, trailing only his 149 tackles last season. Ruud finished his Husker career with a school-record 432 tackles, the second-most in Big 12 Conference history. Last season, Ruud was a second-team All-Big 12 pick by the Associated Press.

 

Nebraska I-back Cory Ross earned honorable-mention All-Big 12 honors both as a running back and an all-purpose performer. Ross finished the season with 1,102 yards rushing and also caught 21 passes out of the Husker backfield. Offensive tackle Mike Erickson and tight end Matt Herian also earned honorable-mention honors on offense. Erickson started every game the past three seasons and earned honorable-mention honors for the second straight season. Herian had 24 pass receptions before suffering a broken leg against Missouri.

 

Defensively, four Huskers were named to the honorable-mention list, including three members of the Husker secondary. Strong safety Daniel Bullocks intercepted a team-high five passes in 2004 and earned honorable-mention all-league honors for the second straight season. His twin brother, Josh was also an honorable mention pick from his free safety position. Josh Bullocks intercepted two passes in 2004, running his career total to 13 interceptions. Cornerback Fabian Washington broke up a team-high 15 passes this fall and earned honorable-mention all-conference honors for the third straight season. Defensive tackle Le Kevin Smith had 43 tackles, including 11 tackles for loss from his defensive tackle spot and was the fourth Husker defender to earn honorable-mention all-league honors.
