Coaches Update

Happy Holidays, Husker Fans!

 

We've had a great recruiting season, and we are very excited about our freshmen for next year.  Joining our team in January of 2005 is Kylee Johnson from Lincoln.  We are looking for Kylee to have an immediate impact and add to our depth on all four events.  Joining us in the fall of 2005 are Sabrina Long from Tulsa, Okla., Tricia Woo from Milpitas, Calif. and Kylie Stone from Calgary, Canada.  They are all outstanding gymnasts and will bring not only high level skills, but international competitive experience as well to the 2006 Husker team. 

 

The semester is winding to a close and the girls are working hard to finish on a strong note.  Many of them headed home for the Thanksgiving break and enjoyed a little rest and relaxation.  Practice resumed on Sunday, and the girls were excited to be back.  They are continuing to work hard and are preparing for our intrasquad meet, which will take place on Friday, Dec. 3.  It will be held in our practice facility in Mabel Lee Hall at 6:00 pm.  We hope to see you there cheering on your 2005 Huskers!  Almost all of our gymnasts have upgraded their routines and several have new floor routines.  We are looking forward to seeing the new skills and routines out on the competition floor soon. 

 

Our Booster Club is working on a T-shirt for this season with a team picture of YOUR 2005 Husker women on the front and some of our greatest accomplishments on the back.  If you are interested in buying one, they will be on sale at all of our home meets.  The cost will be $20.00.  Proceeds benefit your Husker gymnastics teams. 

 

The Huskers will be on the road for the first four meets of the 2005 season.  We start off in Michigan, and then head to UCLA, Florida, and finally Missouri.  We will be at the Bob Devaney Sports Center for our home opener against Oklahoma on Saturday, February 5.  This will be an exciting competition featuring the 2004 Big 12 Champion, OU, and the 2005 Huskers, who are looking to make a statement and reclaim the Big 12 Championship later in the season.  Nebraska has won three out of the last four Big 12 Championships, and we are counting on your support at our meets to reestablish our conference dominance.

 

Our Marketing Department has put together a great promotion this year called TAKE 5.  Five Husker fans can get in for just $10.00.  What a great deal!  Twenty-five fans can get in for $1.50 each, and 50 or more fans can get in for just a dollar each!  You can't beat those prices!  Bring the family out to support your Husker gymnastics teams for the 2005 season!
