Lincoln - The Nebraska football team held its final practice session of the week Thursday afternoon with a two-and-a-half-hour workout in full pads inside Cook Pavilion. The end of practice was devoted to a short scrimmage, which featured many of NU's younger players.
Norvell said the scrimmage that concluded the week’s work was good to keep the younger players involved.
"That’s always good for morale, to see the young guys scrimmage," Norvell said. "A lot of our freshmen and scout-team guys got time, so it was fun to see those guys compete."
The Huskers completed a week of practices featuring many full-contact exercises. NU Offensive Coordinator Jay Norvell said the purpose of the drills was to keep players from getting complacent during their bye week.
"We banged them around pretty good all three days," Norvell said. "We got a lot out of all three practices. We want to keep our guys sharp, and you keep guys sharp by hitting. Some of the things that Colorado does in their running game, we do, so it really helps to go against each other and get good players against good players."
The Huskers will take Friday and Saturday off to rest before returning to practice on Sunday afternoon.
