The Nebraska bowling team finished second overall at the Whitewater Invitational Sunday evening. The Huskers went 6-2 over the two-day tournament, losing to the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and to Central Missouri State.
CSMU, which finished second to Nebraska last weekend, won the tournament with a 7-1 record, as its only loss came to the Huskers.
"Both of the games we lost were very close," Nebraska Head Coach Bill Straub said. "We had opportunities to win both games, but in the end we came up a little short. We dominated the field with our averages, but it just didn't fall our way."
While the Huskers finished second in the team competition, NU took home four of the five spots on the all-tournament team. Shannon Pluhowsky won her first tournament of the year with an average of 216 in eight games, as she now has 11 career wins in 30 events.
Amanda Burgoyne (211 average), Karla Engh (210) and Jamie Martin (206) joined Pluhowsky on the all-tournament team. Other competitors for Nebraska this weekend included sophomore Adrienne Miller, who averaged a 194, and freshman Lindsay Baker, who averaged a 194.
The Huskers return to action November 20-21 at the Mankato (Minn.) Invitational.
