Ostermann Moves on to ITA Regional Championships Final

Tulsa, Okla. ? Gitte Ostermann of the Nebraska women's tennis team advanced to the finals of the main draw of the ITA Regional Championships in Tulsa, Okla., Saturday.

In the main draw of the tournament, Ostermann, the No. 44 player nationally and No. 3 seed in the tournament, defeated conference foe Gabby Baker of Oklahoma in straight sets, and in the semifinal she rolled over New Mexico's Maja Kovacek, 6-1, 6-3, to advance to the final. 

Meanwhile, Ewelina Skaza advanced past Kansas State's Jessica Simosa in the consolation round before falling in the semifinal to Suzana Maksovic of Denver, 6-4, 6-2.

On the doubles court, Nebraska's run to the final was cut short when Huskers Pamela Castellejos and Katie Garcia fell to Denver's Yanick Dullens and Maksovic, 8-2, in the quarterfinal match of the main draw.

Ostermann will hit the court Sunday when she faces the No. 1 seed, Daniela Muscolino, of Tulsa in the finals of the tournament.
