Huskers Fall in Doubles Play at ITA Championships

Chattanooga, Tenn.?The Nebraska men’s tennis team continued action at the ITA Men’s All-American Championships Saturday at the Champions Tennis Club in Chattanooga, with three sets of doubles teams falling in pre-qualifying action.

 

Joerg Barthel and Karl Jones dropped their opening match 8-2 to South Florida’s Federico Barton and Juan Carlos Gomez while GeorgiaState’s Jaime Rodriguez and Matija Sulan held on for an 8-5 victory over the Husker’s tandem of Marcus Karner and Adrian Szatmary. In the final match of the day, NU’s James Clow and Joel Reckewey fell to Oregon’s Thomas Bieri and Chad Wilson, 8-4.

 

The Huskers have completed the pre-qualifying action at the ITA Championships. Three Huskers ? Jerry Posch, Joerg Barthel and Adrian Szatmary ? along with one doubles team ? Posch and Rivera ?- now begin play on Oct. 4 in the qualifying round.
