Lincoln - Nebraska sophomore soccer player Brittany Timko was named to the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the Week on Wednesday evening. Earlier in the week, Timko was named the Big 12 Offensive Player of the Week and was named to Soccer America's National Team of the Week.
A native of Coquitlam, British Columbia, Timko leads the nation with 12 goals, 33 points and a 3.00 points per game average, ranks in the top five in assists and assists per game and ranks in the top 10 in goals per game.
So far this season, Timko has tied school records by scoring three goals in a half on two different occassions and totaling nine points in a single game. She has also broken the school record for shortest time span between goals, scoring back-to-back goals just 16 seconds apart against Iowa State on Sept. 26.
Timko also became the first Husker soccer player to earn three Big 12 player-of-the-week honors in a single season and is the only player in the country to be a three-time selection to both the Soccer Buzz Elite Team of the week and Soccer America's National Team of the Week.
Nebraska (8-3 overall, 2-0 Big 12 Conference) plays only one game this week. The Huskers travel to Missouri for a 7 p.m. match with the Tigers on Friday, before returning home for a four-game homestand beginning Oct. 8.
