Howard and Rhonda Hawks Championship Center
As of Sept. 16, 60-70 percent of the 206 pilings have been poured for the new Howard and Rhonda Hawks Championship Center which is located just north of the outdoor track and north of Memorial Stadium. Sampson Construction is currently pouring pile caps that vary in size and shapes but some will measure 3’x 6’ and be three to four feet deep.
The structural steel for the indoor fieldhouse has started to arrive on-stie. The first steel was erected on the pile caps Monday morning (Sept. 20) in the southwest corner of the project. The 70' to 75’ tall steel along the South line of the fieldhouse will go up first. The contractors decided to begin on the South end so they don’t get boxed in as new materials are delivered from the North.
The Tom and Nancy Osborne Athletic Complex
The building pad is now at the correct grade. Fans coming to the stadium will notice the significant difference in height for the Osborne Complex as compared to the fieldhouse. The test pile on the Osborne Complex will be loaded and tested this week and production piles will begin next week.
