Lincoln --- The Nebraska football team completed its second off-week workout by practicing for nearly two hours in half pads Tuesday in Memorial Stadium. The Huskers will practice again Thursday before taking off Friday and Saturday.
First-year Coach Bill Callahan said the Huskers had a solid practice and were not distracted by the absence of several assistants, who were on the road recruiting.
"For the most part, I thought we got a lot accomplished on the field with both units," Callahan said. "We are fortunate to be able to get a lot of work done with a skelton crew today, and the other coaches will be back tomorrow."
Callahan showed great praise when questioned about the defensive line, which has accounted for 20 of NU's 28 team tackles for loss this season.
"Their play has been excellent," Callahan said. "Being able to have that rotation has helped them. And they have played well off each other for the first three games."
Callahan was pleased with the announced start time of the Kansas game, which is now scheduled for a 6:10 p.m. kick off. "I like the night game format early in the year," Callahan said.
The Nebraska-Kansas game will be carried on FSN's pay-per-view basis division, Big 12 Special Order Sports. Details about price and participating cable and satellite systems will be posted on Huskers.com.
