Ostermann Receives Preseason Ranking

Lincoln, Neb. ? Gitte Ostermann, a senior on the Nebraska women’s tennis team, has been ranked No. 44 in the ITA preseason ranking. It marks the third consecutive year that Ostermann has been ranked. Last year’s preseason ranking of No. 19 is the highest ranking for any Husker women’s tennis player.

Ostermann has been the Huskers’ No. 1 singles player. In the 2004 spring campaign, she posted an 11-7 record. She also had success in doubles as well earning a No. 74 ranking at the end of the season with doubles partner Katie Garcia.

Osterman was an All-Big 12 selection for the 2004 season. She is one of only three Husker women’s tennis players to receive multiple All-Big 12 honors, along with Sandra Noetzel (1997-2000) and Lisa Hart (1996-98).

Ostermann also enjoys success in the classroom. She was named to the All-Big 12 Commissioner’s Spring Honor Roll. This recognizes students who earned a 3.0 or higher grade point average over the last semester.
