Radevica Narrowly Misses Advancing

Athens - Former Husker Ineta Radevica finished just one place shy of advancing to the finals of the women's long jump on Wednesday. Radevica, competing for her native country of Latvia, finished ninth overall with a jump of 6.53 meters.

The last qualifier, Tunde Vaszi, finished eighth with a leap of 6.55 meters, edging Radevica by two-hundredths of a meter. Radevica, who finished 20th in the women's triple jump last Saturday, was an 11-time All-American at Nebraska. She was the 2003 NCAA Outdoor and 2004 Indoor and Outdoor triple jump national champion champion. An eight-time Big 12 Champion, Radevica was one of the most decorated Huskers in history.
