Lopes Eliminated From Hurdle Competition

Athens, Greece ? Priscilla Lopes, a junior-to-be on the Nebraska track & field team, finished 20th overall in first-round competition of the women’s 100-meter hurdle event Sunday at the Olympic Games in Athens, Greece.

 

Lopes, competing for her home country of Canada, did not advance to the second round after finishing fifth in heat four of the five-heat event in a time of 13.08 seconds. The first two finishers in each heat, followed by the next six fastest overall, advanced to round two.

In her first season as a Husker, Lopes claimed the NCAA championship in the 60-meter hurdles at the 2004 NCAA Indoor Championships. The Whitby, Ontario, native also recorded a silver-medal performance in the 100-meter hurdles at the 2004 NCAA Outdoor Championships.
