Pine was a member of the Cornhuskers from 1996 to 2000 and became one of the most successful swimmers in school history.
The Ballina, Australia native was a four-year letterwinner at Nebraska and captured the NCAA title in the 100-meter butterfly his senior year. He followed his collegiate career at NU by competing in the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, Australia, winning a gold medal in the 400-meter freestyle relay and a silver in the 400-meter medley relay.
Although this is Pine’s first event of the 2004 games, he is also listed as a member of three relay teams, two of which have already taken place. His final relay team competes Friday morning in the 4x100-meter medley.
