Lincoln -- The Nebraska football team concluded its first two-a-day practices Saturday with an afternoon workout in shorts and shoulder pads on the grass practice field next to Memorial Stadium. The Huskers conducted the day's first practice in full pads on the FieldTurf of Memorial Stadium Saturday morning.
The squad continued the process of installing their new offensive and defensive systems.
“We worked hard,” Head Coach Bill Callahan said. “We had some drills we had to start over again. It was a matter of just focusing in on details of the game. You’re at that point in the sixth day of practice where you’re beginning to get a lot of system in, and you’re trying to go back and repeat plays so you can get some continuity and consistency of execution. We didn’t have that today, but it’s going to get better.”
In other news, Callahan said there is no new information on the status of junior college transfer offensive lineman Cornealius Thomas, who has yet to arrive in Lincoln. Thomas is still completing academic work at the City College of San Francisco.
Nebraska continues fall camp tomorrow with a 2:45 p.m. practice. Offensive Coordinator Jay Norvell and requested players will be available to address the media following the workout.
