Lincoln?The Nebraska football coaching staff re-assembled at South Stadium on Monday, with the start of fall practice just two short weeks away. The Huskers will report to fall camp as a team on Sunday, Aug. 8, and will hit the field for the first time during training camp on Monday, Aug. 9.
Coach Bill Callahan will open practices during fall camp to all former Husker players, as well as credentialed members of the media. All practices will be closed to the public.
For the second consecutive year, teams are not allowed to conduct two-a-day practices until after the first five days of fall camp, and after that time, two-a-day practices may not be conducted on consecutive days. As a result of the NCAA regulations, the Huskers will have just five days with two practices during fall camp, with the first of those coming on Saturday, Aug. 14.
During the first week of training camp, Nebraska is scheduled for single practice sessions in the afternoon, with team meals and meeting time before the start of practice. After working out in sweats the first four days of camp, the Huskers will don full pads for the first time on Friday, Aug. 13. The following is a typical day for Nebraska on single practice days during fall camp.

The Huskers’ script will change when two practices are scheduled. In addition to Aug. 14, the five days with two practices include Aug. 16, 18, 20 and 22. Nebraska will have a longer practice in the morning, with the afternoon practices slightly shorter.

The opening day of practice on Aug. 9 will also include an opportunity for the team to meet members of the local media. The press conference will be held in the morning with the exact time and specifics to be determined in the coming days.
Coach Callahan will continue Nebraska’s always-popular Fan Day, with the event set for 1-2:30 p.m. in Memorial Stadium, on Saturday, Aug. 21. The Huskers will practice on Saturday morning from 8:45 a.m. to 11:18 a.m. prior to the event. Fan Day is the best opportunity for Husker fans to obtain autographs with their favorite Husker players and coaches. More details on Fan Day will be announced in the coming weeks.
Saturday, Aug. 21 is also the date for the first annual Callahan’s 5K Fun Run/Walk for Resources. Events will begin at 8 a.m. on Saturday, Aug. 21 with the one-mile kids run/walk, followed immediately by the 5K run/walk for adults which will begin at 8:20 a.m. All run/walk participants are invited and encouraged to attend the Huskers’ closed football practice following the race.
