HuskerVision Earns Two National Awards

Lincoln ? HuskerVision’s award-winning production staff brought home a pair of honors at the 2004 IDEA (Information Display and Entertainment Association) conference held in Pittsburgh, Pa., this week.

The staff was awarded the Golden Matrix Award for the "Best Overall Video Display," a category that encompasses the entire video presentation at college sporting events, ranging from graphics and features to music videos and other in-game productions. It marked the second time in the past three years that the HuskerVision staff has earned the award over schools such as Florida State, Ohio State and Virginia for top honors this year. For their efforts, HuskerVision received a crystal trophy that will be displayed in the Michael Grace Production Studio in West Memorial Stadium.

"It is a great honor for our entire staff," HuskerVision Creative Director Kirk Hartman said. "It says a lot about the time and effort that our staff and students put into producing material for game day. We are proud to bring this honor back to Nebraska."

HuskerVision also was a finalist in "Best Special Occasion Video" for the 2003 baseball season-ending music video. The piece, which can be seen on Huskers.com, was produced by Rob Stemm and Trevor Hall, and placed in the top three among all levels, including the NBA, NHL, NFL and Major League Baseball.

"Rob and Trevor really did a tremendous job with their video and to have it finish so well against some of the best professionals in the country says a lot about the students who are on our staff," Hartman said.

The HuskerVision team includes: Operations Director Shot Kleen and Creative Director Kirk Hartman, Production Coordinator Michelle Glover and Chief Engineer Jon Barnett. Ashley Gloystein, Derryl Myles & Andy Young were also on staff as interns and graduate assistants. In addition to the full-time staff, HuskerVision employs approximately 30 University of Nebraska students who assist with all HuskerVision projects, including the big screen programming in Memorial Stadium, Bob Devaney Sports Center and Hawks Field.
