Phillips Named NU Grounds Supervisor

Lincoln ? University of Nebraska Athletic Director Steve Pederson announced the hiring of Steven Phillips as Grounds Supervisor for the athletic department on Tuesday.

In his role, Phillips will oversee the grounds crew for the athletic department and is responsible for the upkeep and improvement of the grounds and turfgrass playing surfaces.

Phillips comes to the Cornhusker Athletic Department after spending the past the past five and a half years at Crooked Creek Golf Club in Lincoln. He has served as assistant superintendent at the club for the past three years, working to maintain 130 acres of playable grass. Phillips handled the maintenance of equipment and inventory of the club. In addition, he also handled the landscaping of both the golf course and clubhouse areas.

Before joining the Crooked Creek staff in October of 1998, Phillips had served stints at Quarry Oaks Golf Club, Hillcrest Country Club and Holdrege Country Club.

A 2000 graduate of the University of Nebraska, Steven and his wife, Jessica, reside in Lincoln.
