Lincoln ? University of Nebraska Athletic Director Steve Pederson announced the hiring of Ragean Hill to the Husker staff on Tuesday, as she was named academic counselor/coordinator of multicultural programs.
"Ragean was recognized by her supervisor at Kansas State as a rising star in this business and will be a wonderful addition to an already outstanding academic staff," Associate A.D. for Academic Programs and Student Services Dennis Leblanc said. "As a former student-athlete, she will also be able to help our staff on student-athlete issues, allowing us to continue to develop programs that will benefit all our student-athletes at Nebraska."
In her new role, she will work with Leblanc to oversee multicultural programming for student-athletes and monitor the academic progress for members of the women's basketball, men's and women's tennis and golf and the swimming programs. In addition, she will coordinate new student-athlete orientation and graduation receptions.
Prior to joining the Husker staff, Hill worked as an academic graduate assistant at Kansas State in 2003-04, mentoring student-athletes, helping with botany tutorial programs and assisting in the Life Skills program.
A native of Redlands, Calif., Hill earned her bachelor’s degree in life science from Kansas State in 2002 and her master’s degree from Kansas State in 2004. She also was a member of the KSU track and field teams for two seasons as an undergraduate.
