Men's Basketball Team Picks Up More Academic Honors

Lincoln --- The Nebraska men's basketball team had 10 players earn academic recognition as they were selected to the 2004 Big 12 Commissioner's Spring Honor Roll. Following the 2003-04 season, the men's basketball team also placed a conference-record six athletes on the academic All-Big 12 first team.

A trio of Huskers ? Jake Muhleisen, Bronsen Schliep and Tony Wilbrand ? led Nebraska's academic award winners, as each was named to the commissioner's honor roll for the sixth straight semester. For Schliep, it was his sixth consecutive semester with a perfect 4.0 grade-point average.

Jason Dourisseau added his fourth consecutive selection to the squad while John Turek was honored for the fourth time in his career. Shuan Stegall was selected to his first Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll, while former Huskers Adam Bohac, Brian Conklin, Bobby Kempf and Marques McCarty were also honored. Bohac and Conklin finished the spring with 4.0 grade-point averages.

The Big 12 Commissioner's Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who earned a 3.0 grade-point average or higher during the previous semester. Overall, Nebraska had 263 student-athletes named to the spring honor roll, including 33 who produced perfect 4.0 GPAs during the spring semester.
