Lincoln -- Ten of the 13 members of the Nebraska women’s golf team earned recognition from the conference for their academic accomplishments by being named to the Big 12 Commissioner’s Spring Honor Roll.
Senior Stephanie Schaefer and junior Beth Anne Cherry led the way for the Huskers in the classroom during the spring semester, as both golfers produced perfect 4.0 grade-point averages. Schaefer, an exercise science major from Columbus, Neb., and Cherry, an elementary education from Lincoln, Neb., enjoyed perfect semesters for the Huskers in the classroom.
Junior Merynn Ito (Aiea, Hawaii) also produced a strong semester academically, while sophomores Jackie Beste (Sauk Centre, Minn.), Chelsea Gehring (Aberdeen, S.D.) and Sara Sackett (Cambridge, Neb.) also earned mention on the honor roll along with four of Nebraska’s freshmen (Andrea Dunagan, Heather Gutschow, Madison Schroeder and Allison Stewart).
The Big 12 Commissioner’s Honor Roll recognizes student-athletes who earned a 3.0 GPA or higher during the previous semester. Overall, Nebraska had 263 student-athletes named to the spring honor roll, including 33 who produced perfect 4.0 grade-point averages during the spring semester.
