Nebraska Falls at No. 61 Texas Tech, 4-2

Lubbock, Texas --- Playing its second league match of the weekend and ninth contest this season against a ranked opponent, the Nebraska men's tennis team dropped a 4-2 decision to No. 61 Texas Tech at the Falls Country Club Sunday. With the loss, Nebraska fell to 8-9 on the year and 0-5 in Big 12 play. Texas Tech improved to 10-8 on the season and 1-2 in league action.

"We didn't get a solid effort today and against a top team like Texas Tech, you need a solid effort from every position," said NU Coach Kerry McDermott. "We will look to come out with a more professional attitude when finish the home schedule next week."

Due to inclement weather, singles matches were played first and doubles action was not contested.

Nebraska's Joerg Barthel picked up the Huskers' first victory in singles play with a solid 6-1, 6-4, win over Bojan Szumanski at the No. 2 position. Freshman James Clow recorded NU's only other win with a 7-5, 6-3, victory at the No. 6 slot. Nebraska dropped four singles matches in straight sets, with only junior Jose Rivera coming close to picking up a set. Rivera pushed Esat Tank in the first set at No. 3 singles before falling 7-6, 6-1.

Nebraska completes its home schedule on Wednesday, April 7, when the Huskers take on No. 28 Oklahoma State in Lincoln. The match will take place at Cather-Pound Courts, weather permitting.
